Very popular on the tourist trail of
Kerala, Aranmula is the home of an ancient craft of
metal mirrors. Tourists visit Subramanian Achary and
Arjun Achary the two kannadi craftsmen in Aranmula
to watch these men dextrously create metal mirrors
using cire perdu (lost-wax) process using an alloy
of copper, bronze, brass, silver and lead. A visit
to their workshop will be very insightful and insightful
about the history of Aranmula Kannadi, which once
adorned the royal palaces in the past. Sree Parthasarathy
temple, 1800 years old is the abode of Lord Vishnu
in the form of Annadanaprabhu. Aranmula's Vijana Kala
Vedi Cultural Center offers tourists basic courses
of all Kerala art forms – Kathakali, Mohiniattam,
Kalarippayat, Ayurveda, Kerala painting and crafts
and traditional cuisine cooking. If you plan your
trip in the festival month of Onam, Aranmula's snakeboat
race on River Pampa makes your trip worthwhile. |
