Do not accept any parcels from unknown person to be delivered at destination. |

During train journey avoid taking eatables from co-passengers and do not disclose personal matters to them. |

Avoid conversations with strangers. |

Do not leave your baggage unattended and always keep them chain locked along with the metal hook provided under the seat in the train compartment. |

Do not hand over the train ticket to unauthorised persons. Show the ticket only to the train TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner). |

Do not lift any unattended / unclaimed material / suitcase etc., inform the railway authority immediately. |

Do not keep handbags near the open windows when the train stops at stations as someone may easily snatch the bag through the window. |

Keep your money and travel documents close to your body (perhaps in a pouch slung around your neck, tucked out of sight under your shirt). |

Keep a low profile and avoid wearing expensive jewellery. |
 |
Always have the necessary contact numbers with you and enough coins for making phone calls. |

Avoid carrying large amount of currency, use travelers cheques and credit cards and small denomination of local currency. |

In any case do not keep all the means of payment in the same place – your wallet or purse. |

Do not exchange currencies with individuals. There are many touts who have cheated expatriate nationals by promising to pay more than the exchange value. Exchange currencies from Government Authorized Money vendors at airports or from hotels where you stay. Always ask for a receipt of the exchange transaction. |

Do not leave your baggage or personal belongings unattended at airport lounges or the railway station /trains. |
 |
Keep away from unattended packages or luggage. |
 |
On checking into a hotel ask for a safe deposit locker to keep valuables and cash. |
 |
If staying in a hotel do not open doors to strangers unless you have checked through the safety chain the person at your door step. |
 |
While staying in a hotel if you receive crank calls please report to the hotel authorities immediately. Do not get into casual conversation with such callers. |
 |
While staying in a hotel if you hear the fire alarm immediately leave your room and walk out through the Fire Exit door and follow instructions of the hotel safety personnel. |
 |
Try not to mention your company name, function or nationality when strangers can hear you. |
 |
On arrival at the airport if you do not find the car supposed to meet you on arrival do not hire a cab at the airport. Call your travel coordinator and ask for a car. |

Keep photocopies of your passport, insurance, travelers’ cheques etc. |

If you are traveling alone, do not advertise it. |

If you lose your passport, lodge a First Information Report (FIR) at the local police station and report the matter to your embassy. Remember to collect the FIR copy from the police. |

Always be in time to catch a train / flight to avoid speed driving and last minute rush / frustration. |

Always carry your identity card and contact address to establish contact in case of emergency. |

Avoid talking / discussing politics / religion in public. |
