Coorg is the land of
mist caressing hills (1525 m above sea
level), dense forests, coffee plantations,
cardomon gardens, honey farms, holy river
temples and cordial folks. This hill station
on the Western Ghats is reputed for its
cool and pleasant climate that it has
rightly earned the tagline 'Scotland of
India'. A road trip from Banglore to Coorg
is a distance of 252 kms. So blessed is
this land that it seats the origin of
River Cavery, one of the sacred rivers
on India. Outdoor activity options are
plentiful – head on the finest trekking
trails, golf in a coffee garden and try
your hand at angling too. The road trips
through the ghat trails to nearby excursions
are worth a lifetime. Trek at Nagarhole
National Park to spot wildlife in close
quarters. A visit to Kakkabe's honey farm
would be a great hit with the children.
Cauvery Nisargadhama, is a great honeymoon
nook - its right in the middle of the
River Cauvery. Triveni Sangama - The holy
spot of the three rivers Cauvery, Sujyothi
and Kanike converge. Standing here is
the Kerala style temple of Bhangandeshwara.
The sharp cold sprays of the Irpu and
Abbi Falls are refreshing after a long
trek. |
