CYPRUS : Limassol – Paphos – Omodos – Nocosia – Larnaca
 
Day 1: LIMASSOL

Full day excursion beginning with the District Museum with its extensive archaeological collection from Amathus, as well as rich remains from Neolithic times. Continue to the Limassol Castle, which houses the Medieval Museum.

Afternoon site visit at Amathus, a city founded in the 11th century B.C. and known for its independent traditions (including several myths found in Ovid) and its sanctuary of Aphrodite. Return to Limassol for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

 

Day 2: LIMASSOL - PAPHOS       

Breakfast and check out. Following a morning visit to the Kolossi Castle, we move on to the Greco-Roman city of Kourion and the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates, a pilgrimage site for over 1000 years. Continue to the picturesque Petra tou Romiou, birthplace of Aphrodite. Afternoon sightseeing at the impressive Tombs of the Kings, carved for the Macedonian officials who governed Cyprus. Dinner and overnight in Paphos. (B, D)

 
 
Day 3: PAPHOS       

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Paphos offers a rare display of 800 years of mosaics, all displayed in situ.

After breakfast, depart on a full day tour starting at the Paphos harbor. We continue our tour at the House of Dionysos, the House of Aion, the Villa of Theseus, the Asclepion, and the Agora. End the morning at the Byzantine Museum.

Afternoon walking tour of Paphos includes the District Museum and the Church of Chrysopolitissa. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

 
Day 4 : PAPHOS - OMODOS - NICOSIA

Breakfast and check out. Begin a full day's excursion at the Church of Ayia Paraskevi in Yeroskipou, famous for its simple geometric decorative display dating from the iconoclastic period. Continue to the Sanctuary of Aphrodite and the museum in Koulkia. Continue to Omodos for a tour of a local winery and lunch in one of the village tavernas. This afternoon, take a leisurely drive through the splendid Troodos Mountains enroute to Nicosia. (B, L, D)

 
Day 5: NICOSIA

Depart on a morning walking tour of Nicosia which includes the Archbishopric, a visit to the Byzantine Museum, the Cathedral of St. Johns, the Venetian Walls and the elaborate collection of the impressive Cyprus Archaeological Museum.

Afternoon visit to the Leventis Museum, where the history of Nicosia is told through artifacts, jewelry, coins, and maps. Return to the hotel this evening. Dinner and overnight in Nicosia. (B, D)

 

Day 6: NICOSIA - LARNACA

Breakfast and check out. Morning departure for Larnaca.

Built on the ancient site of Kition, a city dating back to 13th century B.C., Larnaca was the home of the philosopher Zeno, the founder of Stoicism.

Upon arrival, visit the District Museum with its interesting collections of Mycenean pottery, early Egyptian, and late Greco- Roman artifacts. Continue to the Pierides Foundation, a 150-year-old private collection of over 2,500 Cypriot antiquities. Dinner and overnight in Larnaca. (B, D)

 
Day 7: LARNACA

Morning excursion to the archeological site of Kition to view the remains of the Acropolis, the Phoenician Temple of Astarte, and what is left of the city walls that were built in Mycenean style. Continue to Kiti for lunch and a visit to the beautiful Angeloktisti Church. Before returning to Larnaca, make a brief stop in the lacemaking village of Lefkara. Dinner and overnight in Larnaca. (B, D)

 
Day 8: LARNACA - HOME
