| South
India has an ancient history of vibrant dynasties
and flourishing kingdoms. Rulers and their successors
took on ambitious architectural challenges to create
better civic structures, temples, courtyards, wells,
water tanks, forts and lighthouses for their kingdom.
Sadly much of it has been destroyed over the centuries
during battles and invasions; but some remains have
survived in various heritage destinations in South
India. These sanctums of historical wonder speak in
superlatives of their Times - sense for aesthetics,
historical documentation to the finest detail. Fulcrum
will plan your tours to these treasure chests of heritage
architectural wonders. Many of the heritage structures
are temples which, even today people visit to worship.
However a few destinations have been taken over by
the archaeological department for protection against
vandalism and are open for tourists at a scheduled
time everyday. Some of the sculptures and artifacts
have been secured and displayed in various museums
in India. |
