AUCKLAND MUSEUM : Spend time experiencing this unique tribute to NZ’s natural, Maori and European history. Within a short walking distance is ‘The Winter Garden’ pavilion. See rare indoor plants and a spectacular fern display.
 
MANAIA CULTURAL PERFORMANCE : This compelling thirty minute performance offers visitors to New Zealand an insight into Maori mythology, genealogy (Whakapapa) and spirituality (taha wairua) by a group of highly trained and passionate performers. The show includes a welcome dance, poi dance, stick game, weaponry display and a haka followed by an introduction to the Maori gallery which houses the country’s finest collection of Maori treasures.
 

PARITAI DRIVE : Auckland’s most expensive residential street with fantastic views of the Waitemata Harbour and islands.

TAMAKI DRIVE : Drive via the Mission Bay around the edge of Waitemata Harbour dominated by large native Pohutakawa trees. Views of the Rangitoto island.
 

Day 2

Depart to Bay of Islands, Cape Brett

THE NORTH SHORE : Head over the Harbour Bridge via Auckland’s northern suburbs.

HIBISCUS COAST : Popular Holiday and retirement resort with beautiful beaches.
 
WHANGAHAREI : Northland’s only city and largest port.
 
WAITANGI TREATY HOUSE : Site of the historic treaty between the Maori and European pioneers. View a magnificent Maori meeting house and a large war canoe.


CAPE BRETT : Cruise by the spectacular islands that make this location so famous as you head to Cape Brett. Travel through the Hole in the Rock, the highlight of your tour.

Day 3

Depart to Rotorua via Waitomo Glow warm caves

DEPART AUCKLAND : Travel the main Southern Highway through small rural townships steeped in early pioneer history. Your host serves morning tea during this sector.
 
WAIKATO : Travel through NZ’s largest dairy and sheep farming province. Travel the outskirts of Hamilton City, via the small farming settlements towards the King Country, birthplace of the Maori Monarchy.
 
WAITOMO GLOW WORM CAVE : Join a guided tour through this world famous cave formation, climaxed by drifting silently in a boat through a glowworm cave Cavern lit up with thousands of tiny glowworm lights.
 
LIGHT LUNCH :Served on board as we make our way to Rotorua through magnificent rural farmland with its vast numbers of grazing animals.
 
ROTORUA : New Zealand’s highest city, 305 metres above sea level, located inside the rim of a volcanic crater. An area of great geothermal activity. We visit the following attractions
 
AGRODOME FARM TOUR : An introduction to NZ farming, with a 45-minute tour of an authentic working farm in all-weather, all terrain vehicles. Watch a sheep being shorn and hand-feed the animals.
 
RAINBOW SPRINGS NATURE SANCTUARY : Crystal clear cold springs, home to thousands of trout. See Kiwi, native birds and other wildlife in this bush setting: opportunity to souvenir shop.
 
LAKE ROTORUA : Drive through the foreshore park past the hundreds of ducks and swans then through the beautiful, historic Government Gardens.
 
TE PUIA (WHAKAREWAREWA THERMAL RESERVE AND MAORI ARTS AND CRAFTS INSTITUTE) : One of Rotorua’s most famous attractions. See woodcarving, weaving displays, Maori village and the thermal valley with famous Pohutu Geyser, Fumaroles, colourful silica deposits and boiling mud pools
 

RETURN TO AUCKLAND : Your attraction packed day concludes as the coach travels through the beautiful horse breeding district of Matamata and the pastureland of the hauraki plains. A light snack is served on this sector.
