Rameshwaram is a sacred island most visited
by Hindu's from all over the world. This
is the site where Rama bathed and started
to build the bridge ( with the help of
Hunuman) to Lanka to rescue his wife Sita
(who was captured by Lanka's king Ravana).

Temple are a must visit. The Cholas built
the Ramalingeshwara Temple in the 12th
century. It is customary for the Hindus
to take a holy dip in each of the 22 tirthas
(temple tanks) and in the sea before entering
the temple. The temple festivals are Mahashivaratri
and Thirukalyama.
